Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ pets have the brightest names

It’s no secret that the royal family loves their pets. Prince Phillip was renowned for his efforts to conserve the environment, and it seems his love for nature trickled down to his great-grandchildren.

In fact, it even turns out that Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids have their own pets — and they have some seriously funky names. In 2016, the Duchess of Cambridge announced that Princess Charlotte owned a hamster named Marvin.

We don’t know if Marvin is still around, but according to Kate, Charlotte loves him because “the whiskers still tickle his face.” Marvin isn’t the only four-legged friend in the Middleton/Windsor household – what would a royal household be without a majestic walking dog?

Prince George asked many questions of David Attenborough

They had a famous black cocker spaniel called Lupo (wolf in Italian), and he appeared in a few official portraits. Lupo is believed to have been named after Kate’s great-grandmother Olive Christiana Lupton, whose family crest bore wolves.

Lupo also played a vital role in choosing Prince George’s name. The Times claims Will and Kate put all the potential names on paper and threw them on the floor at home. They then waited to see which piece of paper the dog gravitated to, which would be George.

Sadly, Lupo passed away in November 2020 and the future king and queen shared the news on their social media.

Lupo was a much loved member of the Cambridge family

They said: “Very sadly last weekend our dear dog Lupo passed away. He has been the heart of our family for nine years and we will miss him so much. – BATHROOM.”

But Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis don’t just love pets – they love wild animals too – as they told conservationist and TV legend Sir David Attenborough.

At the end of 2020, Sir David spoke to the children of Cambridge and answered their questions about wildlife. He told Prince George he hoped no more animals would go extinct, he expressed his shared love for spiders with Princess Charlotte, before telling young Prince Louis that his favorite animals are monkeys because “they are so much fun.”
