Is Owning a Bobcat Legal?
While it can be adorable, owning a bobcat takes a lot of work and comes with sharp claws, grunts, and huge leaping wingspan, not to mention a diet of raw meat. It’s also not legal in all 50 states. States like California and New York have banned the possession of any exotic pets, while other states require a license and permit to own your own bobcat fluff ball. Only a handful allows you to bring one home like you would a cat or dog.
If you live in one of the states that doesn’t allow possession of these beautiful wild animals, you might want to consider a Maine coon. These beautiful cats resemble a bobcat or lynx and have quite the personality but without the potentially deadly claws and instincts.
