Northport adoptable pets of the week: Chippy and Roo

NORTHPORT, NY – Chippy and Roo, kittens who have been best friends since meeting when they were babies, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kittens of the Week. And they love people as much as they love each other, said Lora Wild, a rescue volunteer.

Roo is a 5-month-old baby girl, who has adorable markings and rabbit-like fur, according to Wild. She was rescued from a cat colony when she was a baby and went straight to foster care.

“There she thrived with the other cats and dogs she was raised with,” said Wild. “Everything about Roo is delicate and sweet. Her purr is soothing and she loves to snuggle up on the sofa with her foster family. When Chippy arrived in the house, it was love at first sight for both of them.”

Chippy is a 4 month old baby boy who was found orphaned and bottle fed and loved by his foster family.

“He’s very affectionate and loves to be held and cuddled,” Wild said. “He will play nonstop with anyone who is willing to engage with him.”

Roo took a liking to Chippy and cuddled him and taught him to play, as well as to groom himself, according to Wild.

“They have total adoration for each other and seek each other out when the other is not around,” she said. “As much as they love each other, they will say hello to their foster family every morning and come to see them every time they enter a room. These kittens have been with people non-stop since arriving and think they are part of the gang.”

They get along well with the two foster home dogs, according to Wild.

“Chippy actually thinks he’s a dog when he hangs out with them. He remembers he’s a cat when he’s with Roo.”

Roo loves to groom her boyfriend, and they snuggle up together to sleep or pose for photos.

“You can’t help but smile when you see the love they have for each other,” Wild said. “These 2 will fill any home with joy and we hope to find them their forever home, grow together and always feel loved.”

Chippy and Roo are spayed and neutered, have all their vaccines, are trained in litter boxes and microchipped and FELV / FIV negative.
